State of Nevada Dept. of Transportation v. Catalina Apartments (2005)
The State of Nevada undertook a major widening and realignment of Highway 95, a major limited access arterial through the center of Las Vegas. As is common with a project of this magnitude and nature, numerous developed private parcels were condemned for the right of way.
Our client owned a large apartment complex which was affected by the highway widening that physically took several of our client’s apartment buildings and severely damaged a remaining apartment complex.
Our office was able to recover just compensation for the apartments actually taken as well as unique severance damages caused by the State’s project to the remaining portion of the complex. Our client received over $19,000,000 in just compensation where less than $14,000,000 had been originally offered by the State.
